In this paper, concerning kannushi and toya, the author tries new classification not by folk terminology but by the function in rituals; A kannushi means the one in charge of worshipping gods, and B toya means the one who manages as a whole. In miyaza with choroshu, the principal role is the one who worships gods. Depending on the classification by the role of A, the author extracts two types; (I) choroshu play the role, and (II) zashu play the role. In both types, the role of A can be positioned as close adhesion to choroshu. According to the analysis of TOYOTA Takeshi, choroshu are assumed to have been specialized from ordinary zashu in the middle ages; in that process they are supposed to have assimilated the role of A as their own role. On the contrary, the role of B does not necessarily stick to choroshu, and it is a duty among ordinary zashu. To play the role of B is considered to be an initiation into za or choro. HIGO Kazuo points out two types in different way: A B coincident type and A B separate type.
