In 1943, during the Second World War in Asia and the Pacific, Sugihara stressed that the Yayoi culture was a culture rice cultivation and metals. However, he provided scarcely any specific data on metals. During the war, rice served as food on the battlefields and iron served as a material for making warships and artillery. Sugihara unconsciously reflected in his own opinion Japan's situation at that time, which required iron for it to be victorious. This theory of Sugihara's was passed on to Yoshiro Kondo in the 1960s. It was in this way that the theory that the age of iron in Japan began after Early Yayoi gained general acceptance, even though there were insufficient grounds. Then, when in the 1980s iron implements were found at the Magarita site in Fukuoka Prefecture, the belief that the Iron Age began in Initial Yayoi spread.\nSince 2002, a research group at the National Museum of Japanese History has been intensively dating materials from Early Yayoi through Middle Yayoi using the radiocarbon dating method. From the results of this work it now appears that the Yayoi period began as far back as the 10th century BC. This has in turn brought pressure to bear on the matter of iron implements in Initial and Early Yayoi. As a result of examining the circumstances of the excavation of these iron implements, the author has had no option but to conclude that all of these Initial and Early Yayoi iron implements were mixed in with iron implements from a later period, leading to the conclusion that iron implements did not exist during Initial and Early Yayoi.\nYayoi period iron implements began with cast items. Axes, chisels and scaupers made from reworking cast iron axe pieces go back to the period from the beginning of Middle Yayoi through to the end of Middle Yayoi. This situation continued up until the end of Middle Yayoi. The cast iron axes have two raised bands and are in the Yan style, a state that existed in China's Warring States period. Since bronze coins, which are highly indicative of the Yan culture, had not come to Kyushu or Honshu, it is conceivable that most of the cast iron adzes did not start out as complete items but were brought in pieces. As bronze implements also began to become common in the same period, these iron implements were probably brought from the southwest of the Korean peninsula with bronze implements and the materials used to make them.\nForged iron implements appeared at the end of Middle Yayoi. In light of the discovery of examples of forged relics from the end of Middle Yayoi in Fukuoka, Hiroshima and Okayama, it is likely that from around this time people obtained iron materials and forged them to make products. Writings contained in the Weizhi, add weight to the theory that in the Yayoi period and the first half of the Kofun period iron materials were brought to Japan from the south of the Korean peninsula. Although during Late Yayoi, stone implements disappeared completely from the Japanese archipelago and iron implements became widespread, the question of whether it is acceptable to believe that all of these were supplied from the southern part of the Korean peninsula remains unresolved.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15024/00001449","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立歴史民俗博物館","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"}]},"item_10002_relation_17":{"attribute_name":"関連サイト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"第133集 収録論文 タイトルリスト"}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://www.rekihaku.ac.jp/outline/publication/ronbun/ronbun6/index.html#no133","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}}]},"item_10002_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00377607","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0286-7400","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_10002_version_type_20":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"春成, 秀爾","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"ハルナリ, ヒデジ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Harunari, Hideji","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2016-04-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"kenkyuhokoku_133_07.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.8 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"kenkyuhokoku_133_07.pdf","url":"https://rekihaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1466/files/kenkyuhokoku_133_07.pdf"},"version_id":"784f69e5-82e9-4b38-8681-8a345b66ee8b"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"弥生時代と鉄器","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"弥生時代と鉄器","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"Yayoi Period and Iron Implements","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"3","path":["159"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2016-04-01"},"publish_date":"2016-04-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"1466","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["弥生時代と鉄器"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-10-13T05:42:48.411938+00:00"}
