@article{oai:rekihaku.repo.nii.ac.jp:00001597, author = {川崎, 史人 and Kawasaki, Fumito}, journal = {国立歴史民俗博物館研究報告, Bulletin of the National Museum of Japanese History}, month = {Mar}, note = {application/pdf, 本稿は、故郷を離れて都会で生活しているシャーマンが、どのように故郷の「伝統」を継承しつつ、都会の影響を受けながら故郷の神と交流を続けているかを考察する。故郷の神を拝むという伝統を志向する意識と、都会で生活することで人や情報に多く接する現実のなかで、トランスを中心とした交流のあり方やその変化に注目する。 本稿で考察の対象とするのはトカラ列島悪石島出身の一女性(A姉と称す)である。トカラ列島では、ネーシとよばれる女性が村落祭祀にもかかわりながら神との交流を続けてきた。A姉も、若くして神が乗り、将来は有望なネーシとして島の人々から期待されていた。ところが、当時すでに大阪で生活しており、島を離れて暮らさざるを得なかった。 その後十七年間、都会で生活しながら神との交流を続けるが、身体の不調を常に訴えていた。大病を経験するたびに島へ帰って神楽をあげ、身体を正常な状態に戻す生活が続いた。ようやく交流が安定してからは、風水の考えを取り入れ、水晶球を通して拝むようになった。これはA姉の身体を非常に楽にさせ、都会で拝むうえでの障害を取り除いてくれた。しかしトランスなしで神と交流する方法を中心とするなど、ネーシとしてのA姉のあり方を大きく変えることになった。 A姉の場合、こうした変化と関連するのは、故郷との距離感である。これは、神がいる故郷での生活への憧憬と、伝統的な生活から乖離してきた現実の故郷への喪失感との相剋を通して形成されていった。島の神を大切にし、故郷の喪失感が強くなる分、A姉の信仰は強くなる。しかしそのことがまた現実の島社会との距離を広げ、疎外感を増すことになってしまった。こうしたジレンマを、A姉の語り口を通して論じた。, This paper examines how a shaman living in the city away from her native village maintains the village's “tradition” and continues to communicate with the village's kami while under urban influences. It focuses on the nature of communication, primarily trances, and changes to this communication while the shaman aspires to the tradition of worshipping the village's kami at the same time as leading a life in the city in which she has frequent contact with people and information. The subject of this study is a woman (referred to as Ms. A) who comes from Akuseki Island in the Tokara Islands. The Tokara Islands maintains a tradition in which women called “neeshi” communicate with kami and are involved with village rituals as well. Having been visited by kami when young, the islanders regarded Ms. A as a promising future neeshi. However, Ms. A was already living in Osaka and circumstances necessitated that she live away from the island. Although she continued to communicate with kami while living in the city for the next 17 years, she constantly complained of ill health. When she became seriously ill she returned to the island, whereupon she performed kagura and continued to follow a lifestyle that would return her body to normal health. Once she had stabilized her communication with kami she incorporated the philosophy of Feng Shui, and so came to use crystal balls for worshipping kami. This had the effect of relaxing Ms. A's body to the extreme, thus eliminating any impediment to worshipping while living in the city. However, this brought a huge change to Ms. A's role as a neeshi in that she no longer used trances as her main form of communicating with kami. In Ms. A's case, this change is related to her sense of distance from her native village. This came about through the conflict between a yearning to live in her village where the kami reside and a sense of loss regarding the village in her current life which had diverged from a traditional lifestyle. Holding the kami in high esteem, the stronger Ms. A's sense of loss became the stronger her religious beliefs and practices grew. However, this also had the effect of increasing the distance between herself and contemporary island life.
