They also met their needs by using nature in areas that included shoen and villages in a near-natural state. When studying this usufructuary utilization of local nature by conceptualizing it as an“ occupation” from a historical perspective, it is difficult to obtain a clear picture only from the period classified as“medieval history.”Using reeds and water chestnuts as examples, this paper makes a study based on historical materials dating from the Heian period through to the early Edo period. In Namba Bay, the reaping of reeds that were one form of vegetation found along the shoreline became popular from the Heian period, and though it increased in relation to urban demand, no exclusive areas were established for the use of individual shoen or villages. Although the usufructuary utilization of the shores of Lake Biwa was allowed from the Kamakura period, during the Namboku period these shores were incorporated into shoen, and peasants from the Okushima-sho estate established their own exclusive reed fields in opposition to the head of the estate. By the Sengoku period, the securing of exclusive reed fields for villages had become common. Although this meant that they renounced a variety of other resources, including boat transportation and fishing, villages and hamlets put up a strong case for the use of diverse resources, with the result that disputes and arbitration became a routine occurrence. In some cases it became a matter of relying on the authority of the feudal lord. Although there is evidence of the use of water chestnuts from the Nara and Heian period, in the latter half of the Heian period they were cultivated deliberately by inhabitants in flood lands, as seen in the example of Osato-gun in Musashi, and were meant for use as food to stave off starvation. In the Sengoku through to the Edo periods, water chestnuts were cultivated as commercial crops in wetlands in Owari and Settsu in anticipation of demand from urban centers, although fields were not established for the exclusive cultivation of this resource. Both reeds and water chestnuts were used as resources along coastal wetlands and beside lakes, and they were simply two of the diverse products found in these wetlands. There was local opposition to the establishment of areas specializing in reed fields, and though reed fields were established they were limited amid local disputes and arbitration. There was very little inclination to restrict the use of wetlands to a specific resource, and we may conclude that diverse players and forms of resources evolved and were maintained amidst disputes and arbitration.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_heading_23":{"attribute_name":"見出し","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"[共同研究] 中・近世における生業と技術・呪術信仰","subitem_heading_language":"ja"},{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"[Collaborative Research] Occupation, Technology, and Magical Faiths in Medieval and Early Modern Japan","subitem_heading_language":"en"}]},"item_10002_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15024/00001801","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立歴史民俗博物館","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"}]},"item_10002_relation_17":{"attribute_name":"関連サイト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"第157集 収録論文 タイトルリスト"}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://www.rekihaku.ac.jp/outline/publication/ronbun/ronbun7/index.html#no157","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}}]},"item_10002_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00377607","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0286-7400","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_10002_version_type_20":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"山本, 隆志","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"ヤマモト, タカシ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yamamoto, Takashi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2016-04-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"kenkyuhokoku_157_05.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.8 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"kenkyuhokoku_157_05.pdf","url":"https://rekihaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1818/files/kenkyuhokoku_157_05.pdf"},"version_id":"722f299e-810b-4ae2-8a7a-6e24fd957eae"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"葦","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"菱","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"荘園","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"村落","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"用益形態","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Reeds","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"water chestnut plants","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"shoen","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"villages","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"forms of resources","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"湿地における荘園・村落と「生業」 : 平安〜江戸前期の葦と菱(第1部 内海と生業と技術)","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"湿地における荘園・村落と「生業」 : 平安〜江戸前期の葦と菱(第1部 内海と生業と技術)","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"Shoen and Villages and “Occupations” in Wetlands : Reeds and Water Chestnut Plants of the Heian Period through to the Early Edo Period(Part1 Inland Sea, Occupation and Technology)","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"3","path":["184"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2016-04-01"},"publish_date":"2016-04-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"1818","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["湿地における荘園・村落と「生業」 : 平安〜江戸前期の葦と菱(第1部 内海と生業と技術)"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-07-27T05:40:34.475358+00:00"}
