Additionally, by using the examples of red sea bream and silver jewfish (chougi in Korean), this study revealed that ethnic differences in preferences for fish species were formed by both the symbolic meaning of fish and the historical process whereby those symbols assigned to specific meaning instead of the natural environment or the economic standards.
