Structural remains and artifacts from this site have shed light on the lifestyle of Hidehira Fujiwara, the so-called ‘King of the North Country’, and have generated great interest both inside and outside of academic circles. In addition, a strong public sentiment favoring preservation and restoration of this site has appeared. As part of the movement to preserve this site, numerous symposiums and academic meetings have been held, and research has been proceeding at a fast pace.\nCurrently, it has been officially decided that the site will be preserved, and the protest movement has quieted down accordingly. This is thus a good time to begin summarizing and analyzing the research results to date. Such a task is also vital for determining future directions as well. This research is designed as one attempt to contribute to this effort.\nIn summarizing and analyzing, there are numerous important aspects of the research which should be considered.
