This paper considers those Yayoi Period sites in western Japan where rice agriculture seems to have been most actively practised-that is, the area from North Kyushu to the Nobi Plain-in an effort to investigate the consumption of meat at the time.\nThe cultivation of rice seems to have been carried on in the Yayoi sites of western Japan right from the beginning of the period. Apart from rice, however, pigs and dogs also entered Japan, and so did the habit of using them for food. Concurrently, hunting for wild animals declined. There was a decline in deer and wild boar remains, but also a marked decline in the remains of those small and mid-sized animals which, like badgers, foxes and flying squirrels, would have been prized for their pelts. At the same time we may conjecture that meat would have been eaten to counter food shortages brought on by population increase.\nTogether with this change to meat consumption, the lower jawbones of pigs came to be used in religious ceremonies, and the bones of deer and wild boar (perhaps pigs) used for purposes of divination. Yayoi society in western Japan was characterized by its acceptance of the cultural life of those people who had brought agriculture with them from the Asian mainland; it embraced a world view and system of values far different from those of Jomon society. More attention must be paid to how different they were, and how the use made of animals in the Yayoi society of western Japan differed from elsewhere.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_heading_23":{"attribute_name":"見出し","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"日本の農耕文化の諸問題Ⅱ","subitem_heading_language":"ja"},{"subitem_heading_banner_headline":"Studies on Farming Culture II","subitem_heading_language":"en"}]},"item_10002_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15024/00000799","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立歴史民俗博物館","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"}]},"item_10002_relation_17":{"attribute_name":"関連サイト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"第70集 収録論文 タイトルリスト"}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://www.rekihaku.ac.jp/outline/publication/ronbun/ronbun3/index.html#no70","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}}]},"item_10002_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00377607","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0286-7400","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_10002_version_type_20":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"西本, 豊弘","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"ニシモト, トヨヒロ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nishimoto, Toyohiro","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2016-04-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"kenkyuhokoku_070_10.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"502.2 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"kenkyuhokoku_070_10.pdf","url":"https://rekihaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/816/files/kenkyuhokoku_070_10.pdf"},"version_id":"f62f4d93-e505-4dbe-b23f-2b9f6dc701f2"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"弥生時代の動物質食料(日本の農耕文化の諸問題Ⅱ)","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"弥生時代の動物質食料(日本の農耕文化の諸問題Ⅱ)","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"Meat Consumption in the Yayoi Period (Studies on Farming Culture II)","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"3","path":["101"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2016-04-01"},"publish_date":"2016-04-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"816","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["弥生時代の動物質食料(日本の農耕文化の諸問題Ⅱ)"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-08-18T07:02:57.605547+00:00"}
