| 内容記述 | 調査地である中国雲南省紅河哈尼族彝族自治州に属する金平苗族瑤族傣族自治県者米拉祜族郷，老集寨郷では，8つの民族と1つの集団が混在して居住している。人々は海抜およそ500mの河谷平野からおよそ1,500mの山地の斜面にかけて異なった高度に居住し，地形と気候の複雑さは多様な生態的な環境を生み出し，そのことが各民族・村単位での生業戦略の差異につながってきた。 生業戦略の差異は水田稲作の多様性を生起させているのだが，その要因は生態的な環境と土地利用や山の斜面に広がる畑作地（斜面畑），それに野生植物利用の方法や，さらには者米谷で6日ごとに開催される定期市とも深く関係している。 者米谷の生態的な環境は複雑であるが，者米谷の各民族・村はこの多様な生態的な環境を，それぞれが網羅的，均質的に利用しているのではなく，ある特定の生態的な環境を部分的に選択して利用している。そのため各民族・村の生業戦略に独自性と差異性が存在する。そして多様な生業戦略が集合し相互に補完しあうことで，生業複合体を形成している。 さらに者米谷の生業複合体は，市を介し生業戦略の差異化が促進されることで，より強固に進展してきた。このことが彼らを「水田稲作農耕民」という1つの概念だけでは把握しきれない，多様な水田稲作のあり方を創出している要因になっていると考えられる。 |

| 内容記述 | Eight tribes and one commune live scattered in the villages of the Lahu people and the village of Laojizhai in Zhemi in the Autonomous County of Jinping Miao, Yao, and Dai in the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in China's Yunnan Province. The people live at different altitudes ranging from the river plains about 500 meters above sea level to the mountain slopes about 1,500 meters above sea level. The complex nature of the topography and climate has created a diverse range of living environments, which has led to differences in the livelihood strategies of each tribe and village unit. This difference in livelihood strategies has generated diversity in wet rice cultivation. Other factors are the ecological environment, land use and the terraced fields on the mountain slopes, methods of using wild plants and the regular markets held in Zhemigu every sixth day. The ecological environment of Zhemigu is complex. Each of the tribes and villages in Zhemigu do not use these diverse ecological environments exhaustively or homogenously. Instead, they use the land by selecting a part of a particular ecological environment. Consequently, the livelihood strategies of each tribe and village are independent and different. A composite of livelihoods is formed by the bringing together and mutual supplementing of these diverse livelihood strategies. This composite of livelihoods in Zhemigu has become even stronger due to the differentiation in livelihood strategies mediated by the markets and is possibly one factor behind the creation of diverse ways of cultivating wet rice. It is, therefore, not possible to understand these people using the single concept of “wet rice farmers”. |
