| 内容記述 | 本稿は，災害情報を近世社会の情報構造のなかに位置づけるための基礎的作業の一環である。先に，災害によって発生した地変を書き留めた絵図を中心に，絵図情報の発信主体，受け手などによって，領主支配層，領内村落支配層，個人，かわら版などの出版業者の四カテゴリーに分け，災害絵図情報の社会的機能を分析した（「災害絵図研究試論」『国立歴史民俗博物館研究報告』81集，1999）。前稿におけるこの情報の四カテゴリーを踏まえ，本論では1840年代後半から50年代にかけて頻発する巨大災害の先駆けを成した善光寺地震の災害情報全般の分析をまず試み，各所に書留として残る資料の大半が被災地域の支配者から幕府に届けられる被害届で占められていることを検証した。また，被災地情報を正規のルートに載せ，広く販売しようとする地震摺物の出版には，それに関わる一群の地方支配層と都市における儒学者や国学者などの知的交流を踏まえたネットワークの存在が不可欠であったことが明らかになった。さらに，被災地を遠く離れた都市では，災害情報に限らず珍事，その他事件を伝える情報を積極的に入手し回覧し合う町人，武士などの身分的制約から解き放たれた同好グループが存在し，彼らの間では善光寺地震の情報が個人的興味に基づく差異を含みながらも，大半が支配層間で交わされる被災届などで占められていたことを明らかにした。 善光寺地震，安政元年（1854）地震津波，安政二年（1855）江戸地震では，災害情報は量的にも質的にもピークに達するが，これに重なってペリー来航後の風説留が全国的に展開する。災害情報は，幕末に向かって高まる階層横断的な政治的関心の昂揚，拡大，それらを書き留める風説留の膨大な蓄積の先駆けを成したとすることができる。 |

| 内容記述 | The main purpose of this paper is to make clear the states of disaster information in the whole communication structure in the Edo period. Specifically, the case of Zenkoji Earthquake is discussed in order to see what kind of disaster informaiton was circulated, and how people obtained it. The disaster information in Japan at that time can be classified into four categories as stated in my own work “An Essay on the Disaster-Pictures from the late eighteenth century to the nineteenth in Japan” (1999). The four categories are: (A) the information among the governors, (B) the suffering reports offered by village officers to their governors, (C) the private records memorandum by individuals, such as diaries, (D) the documentaries of the disaster or broadsides to sell at stores or on street corners for the masses. Based on this classification, most of the information of the Zenkoji Earthquake fall into category A or B. Private essays which apparently belong to category C consist of the disaster information copied from category A or B. We can find many similar information in various essays whose authors belonged to the network to intellectuals in cities or in local areas. As for the information in category D, it is the distinctive feature that the local publishers had been active, supported by the network among the local intellectuals. We can hypothesize that the circulation of disaster information could help people to prepare for upcoming unusual events and also help the development of the network among those who would share the same interests. The “Black Ship Attacking” by Commodore Perry was a Landmarking political event whose information was circulated quite rapidly and widely in Japan. We argue that the communication structure in the Edo period had been already developed partly by the circulation of disaster information. |
