| 内容記述 | 本稿は、葬儀用品問屋を営んできたある人物のライフヒストリーから、問屋業が成立し、葬儀に関わる業務が次第に産業化していく過程について検討することを目的とする。この人物は問屋として、戦後の葬儀産業形成においてその一翼を担い、今でも関連するさまざまな場で活躍しており、その生涯はそのまま戦後の葬儀産業史の展開と密接に関わっている。特に葬儀が産業化していく過程で、文化の流用が行われ、必要な専門的知識が形成されていき、新たな流通形態を作り出している状況を把握することは、現代の葬送儀礼の理解のためにも必要なことと考える。その際、方法的にはライフヒストリーの手法を取り上げるが、その理由として、都市に住みながら地域を越えて活動をし、また問屋業として葬送儀礼のあり方に大いに影響を及ぼしていることから、地域に必ずしもとらわれない個人的主体性の強い存在の動態を把握するためには、有効なアプローチ法と考えるからである。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | The aim of this paper is to examine the process of the gradual industrialization of the funeral business following the formation of the wholesale business by studying the life story of a wholesaler of funeral accessories. As a wholesaler, this figure played a role in the formation of the funeral industry after the Second World War, and even today remains active in various related arenas. Thus, the life of this person is closely linked to postwar developments in the funeral industry. Culture was appropriated, a required body of specialist knowledge amassed, and a new pattern of distribution created in the process of the industrialization of funerals. Having an understanding of these phenomena is also necessary in order to understand contemporary funeral practices. A biographical approach has been adopted for the purpose of this study. This approach was chosen because although the wholesaler lived in an urban environment, his activities transcended his local area, and as a wholesaler he had a strong influence on the nature of funeral practices. Consequently, this is an effective approach for gaining an understanding of the dynamics of a highly subjective independent existence that was not necessarily bound to one locality. | |||||||||||
