| 内容記述 | 19世紀半ばにモーヴという合成染料が発明されてから，色の歴史は大きな変革を迎えた。とくに20世紀に入ってからは，従来の無機顔料に匹敵する堅牢性を持つ合成有機顔料が数多く出現している。これらの合成有機顔料は，今世紀半ばまでは専門家用絵具の素材としてはほとんど使用されていなかったが，合成樹脂を展色剤とする新しいタイプの絵具が開発され広く使用されるようになるにつれて需要が増えてきた。今では，専門家用絵具に使用されている合成有機顔料は少なくとも70種あまりある。日本のメーカーとアメリカのメーカーのアクリル絵具のマンセル測定値を比較してみると，現代の絵具の特徴として，色の多様性と同時に色の彩度が高いということがあげられる。また，色の傾向の差が最もはっきりでたのは赤色の絵具においてであった。現在総合的な便覧に登録されている顔料でも，専門家用絵具に使用されている顔料でも，種類が最も豊富にあるのは赤色の顔料であることから，現代の絵具の色を比較検討する場合，このように広い選択肢の中からどの赤色顔料，すなわちどのような赤の色を選択したのかということが，個々の違いを最も端的にあらわす要素ではないかと考えられる。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | Since a synthetic dye called “Mauve” was invented in the middle of the 19th century, the history of colors has known remarkable changes. In particular, there appeared at the beginning of the 20th century many synthetic organic pigments having a good fastness property comparable to that of the inorganic pigments. However, these synthetic organic pigments were hardly used in artists' colors until the middle of this century. Their demand and use gradually increased along with the development of new types of coloring materials which used synthetic resins as vehicle. At the present time, there are at least 70 kinds of synthetic organic pigments used in artists' colors. Comparing the Munsell values of acrylic colors produced by a Japanese manufacturer with those produced by an U. S. manufacturer, we can point out a wider variety of colors and a higher brightness as characteristics of modern colors: the difference in the color choice was most marked in red colors. The red pigments are the richest in variation as pigments registered in Color Index and presently used in artists' colors. Therefore, with regard to the colors of modern coloring materials, the red pigments or red colors selected from these extensive options would reflect most adequarely the differences in taste. |
