| 内容記述 | 日本の建築は木造で軸組構造とするのが特徴で、山から木を伐り出して製材し、所定の部材に加工し（木作り）、同時に基壇を築いて礎石を据え、柱を立て梁・桁を組んで棟を上げ、屋根を葺き、造作を取り付け、壁を塗り色を塗り金具を付けるなどして完成する。 古代においては、こうした建築工事がどのような工程で進められ、完成までどの位の工期が掛かったのか。工事中には、工事の進捗に合わせてどんな建築儀式が行われたのか。なかでも、工匠の儀式である木作始め、柱立て、棟上げはどのような内容であったのか。それらは中世以降と違ったのか、同じだったのか。 以上のような建築生産に係わる問題について、文献史料にもとづき寺院や宮殿の場合を考察する。 |

| 内容記述 | Japanese architecture is characterized by a wooden construction with an axial structure. The building process includes a cutting down of appropriate trees in forests, lumbering, manufacturing of various parts (Kizukuri), and a construction of the platform by laying stones. It is then followed by setting up the framework with columns and beams, roofing tiles, attaching parts, paving walls, painting, and nailing various metal fittings. How were the above processes carried out in the ancient times? How long did it take to complete them? What kind of rituals were held in the course of construction? What were the details of Kizukuri-hajime, Hashira-tate and Mune-age (rituals of Takumi-ancient Japanese architects), in particular? Did they differ in ancient times from those of the Medieval period and thereafter? To answer these questions, the author discusses the construction of the Buddhist temples and the court palaces in ancient Japan based on the archival records. The results of the survey can be summarized as follows : 1 ) Regarding the construction term, it took two to two and half years to build a Buddhist temple, whereas approximately one year was required to complete a palace. 2 ) The rituals during the course of construction, such as Hashira-tate and Mune-age, were held once on an auspicious day. These ceremonies did not necessarily correspond to the actual construction processes. 3 ) The details of Hashira-tate and Mune-age in the ancient times cannot be precisely reconstructed. However, in some case, they might have been similar to those in the Medieval era and thereafter. |
